Lately, Orcinus has been doing a damn fine job of tearing apart Michelle Malkin. If you don’t know who Malkin is, she’s part of the wave of attractive female conservatives that the RNC started supporting in the 1990s in order to give the party a new look. If the message is heinous, at least try to convey it with a pretty face.

Recently, Malkin has been doing double duty whoring for internment camps. You see, if you want to try to argue that throwing an ethnic group into internment camps is a good idea, it helps to have someone who kind of looks like that ethnic group to front your message. Malkin, who is of Filipino descent, has argued that throwing lots of American citizens into internment camps in the 1940s was a great idea because they happened to have Japanese blood. Although she doesn’t come out and say it, she implies that it would be a similarly good idea to throw Arab-Americans into internment camps now. Orcinus gives a very nice history of Malkin and her work, and links to a number of sites that wholly debunk her argument. It’s well worth the read.

Frankly, if the conservatives want someone to defend internment camps for Arab-Americans, they can do better than this. I’m sure that the President has lots of Saudi friends who would be glad to help him out.

Incidentally, I’m pretty shattered to discover that Emma Caulfield is a conservative. Say it ain’t so, Anya.
