The Voting Rights Act Needs to be Strengthened, Not Ended
Eliminating eligible voters from the rolls worked out very well for Republicans in 2000. So, of course, Governor Luthor will be going back to the disenfranchisement well in 2012.
All of which should remind us that claims that the Voting Rights Act is obsolete are absurd. It needs to be more broadly applied and rigorously enforced, not gutted.
