More Levon
I endorse Erik’s general position on The Band and Music From Big Pink, extraordinary records that remain rich listening experiences after at least two decades of frequent listening. Stage Fright and Northern Lights-Southern Cross are not quite on that level but are very enjoyable. And then of course there’s the work with Dylan; I’ve listened as much to the bad-in-theory-great-in-practice arena rock of Before the Flood almost as much as the justly revered Basement Tapes (and the electric side of the “Royal Albert Hall” bootleg, although Levon doesn’t play on that one.) An amazing drummer and singer who was part of a lot of enduring music. R.I.P.
