Labor leaders for economic terrorism
Ah, nothing like appearing at the convention in support of a serial economic terrorist:
Sean O’Brien, Teamsters president, spoke at the GOP convention.
Now after Trump and @elonmusk laughed about firing workers on strike, he tells @rachaelmbade:
“Firing workers for organizing, striking, and exercising their rights as Americans is economic terrorism.” pic.twitter.com/wyt9ZSxY6O— Terry Moran (@TerryMoran) August 13, 2024
If only Trump had served as president for 4 years so that his attitude toward organized labor could have been judged by things like his NLRB and judicial appointments O’Brien wouldn’t have been blindsided like this. Well, you learn something new every day.
In related news:
Vice President Kamala Harris has won the endorsement of the National Black Caucus of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters — even as the larger union withholds its endorsement.
Caucus members voted unanimously Tuesday to endorse Harris at a conference in Las Vegas. Publicly backing Harris risks pushback in a union with a history of retaliation.
Endorsing the vastly more pro-labor candidate — apparently a very risky choice, when you’re part of a union whose leadership has other priorities than the material interests of its members.
