Here’s Something That Will Make Us Feel Better
I agree that we should focus on things other than whatever is left of Biden’s brain. So here’s something even worse:
Hurricane Beryl, unprecedented for its rate of strengthening, intensity and location for this time of year, morphed into a Category 5 monster on Monday night as it became the strongest Atlantic storm ever observed during the month of July.
After making landfall Monday on Grenada’s Carriacou Island, the storm was churning west in the Caribbean. Beryl weakened to a high-end Category 4 Tuesday afternoon as its maximum sustained winds decreased from a peak of 165 to 155 mph. Additional weakening is forecast in the days ahead, but the National Hurricane Center still expects “life-threatening winds and storm surge” in Jamaica on Wednesday, as well as probable impacts in Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula by Thursday night or Friday.
Beryl is expected to still be around major hurricane strength as it impacts Jamaica on Wednesday. It could still be a hurricane by the time it’s forecast to hit Mexico.
Category 5 hurricanes as June turns to July! That’s…..never happened before. But hey, climate change is only a crisis of several magnitudes over the 2024 election, which is a huge crisis on its own. The general public’s attitude is a huge shrug of the shoulders, or just denying it matters. I kinda shrug my shoulders at this point too, try to point out what could be better, and while away my remaining days.
