Someone requested a post on Hurricane Idalia. I have relatives in Florida and I know some of you all live there, so I hope everyone stays safe.

Almost everyone. Idalia needs to improve its aim a bit. ;-)

The strong winds from Hurricane Idalia caused an “ancient” 100-year-old oak tree to fall on the Florida governor’s mansion in Tallahassee Wednesday morning.

While Gov. Ron DeSantis was giving an update on the devastation left behind by Idalia, he reassured everyone that he, his wife, and three children were “fine.”

I mean, this asshole needs to choke on a palmetto bug.

“I don’t know if they’re going to have to cut down the whole tree; if they do cut down the whole tree, that’s just going to be more room for my kids to hit baseballs in. So in some respects, even though the tree was nice, we’ll make do and be quite alright.”

Good for you, Gov. Fuckface McSweatstain.

The Biden administration isn’t full of fuckheads and sadists, so they won’t threaten to withhold money or make Ron crawl to D.C. for the money to help Floridians. But I hope FEMA audits the fuck out of his administration.

More on the storm from NOAA. Consider this a mostly open thread. If you want to gripe about the fact that “your” tax dollars go to help people in Florida, you can share a palmetto bug with Ron.
