I’m teaching Wargaming and Simulation this semester, which is every bit as entertaining as you would imagine. Wargaming as academic practice is starting to go mainstream, branching out from its well-understood pedagogical merits to demonstrating utility in the production of “synthetic data.” Academics are quite good at figuring out how to take the fun out of anything. See also the lecture series from the Georgetown Wargaming Society. Anyhoo, CNA has a few interesting free wargames that you can print and play, whether in the classroom or the comfort of your own home. The humanitarian relief game looks particularly interesting. Enjoy, and report!
