NLRB v. NCAA
About damn time:
The National Labor Relations Board issued a complaint yesterday against USC, the Pac-12 and the NCAA, alleging the entities have violated a provision of the National Labor Relations Act, in a move that could potentially lead to student athletes being treated as employees. The NLRB, in a complaint issued late yesterday, is seeking an order that would require USC, the Pac-12 and the NCAA to:
- Cease and desist from misclassifying the players as non-employee “student- athletes.”
- Reclassify the players as employees rather than as “student-athletes” in their files, including, but not limited to, their handbooks and rules.
There is a hearing set for Nov. 7 in L.A. before an NLRB administrative law judge at which USC, the Pac-12 and NCAA may appear and present testimony regarding the allegations in the complaint.
You love to see it, although I assume that the Peonage Association is going to drag this out as long as they can.
