Ten Years Since Rana Plaza

It’s been a decade since the factory at the Rana Plaza in Bangladesh collapsed, killing 1,138 workers and allowing Matt Yglesias the chance to respond to my outrage and horror by saying it was OK for Bangladesh to have these labor standards.
What has changed in the last ten years? What did 1,138 dead matter? Nothing and not at all.
Of course I remind everyone again that things do not have to be this way. We can and already do create international labor standards when we want to. But we simply don’t care who dies making our clothing.
