Trump’s deposition in the E. Jean Carroll trial

This minute-long clip is well worth watching:

My favorite detail is that at one point Carroll’s lawyer pauses in what seems like a moment of sincere incredulity at the answers she’s getting to her questions. A lawyer friend of mine comments:

I can’t get it out of my head. Not just the “unfortunately or fortunately” part, but the fact that he double downed on what he said in the tape! In a trial where he’s accused of a sex crime! How fucking stupid can you be?

I was a little kid I was told that anybody could grow up to become president of the United States. I didn’t believe it then, but have come to understand how very wrong I was to doubt the veracity of that inspiring aphorism.

And of course none of this is going to make the slightest bit of difference to Trump’s prospects of getting the GOP nomination — essentially 100% — or his chances of being re-elected (As for guessing those odds I would prefer not to).
