Murc’s Law, absolute authority or nothing edition
Glenn Greenwald’s alt-right protege Lee Fang describes a de facto strike by police officers in San Francisco:
The most obvious reaction to this set of facts is that it reflects shocking misconduct on the part of the police, who first refuse to reply to calls and then refuse to do anything even though they have the perps, who keep coming back and are presumably fencing the goods as well, on tape. And note that this is happening after the successful recall of Chesa Boudin, completely undermining the LAW AND ORDER narrative that crime in San Francisco was increasing because hippie DAs wouldn’t let the police DO THEIR JOBS.
Fang, however, thinks the cops are the good guys here:
His literal argument is that if police are held accountable in any way for how they interact with citizens, they shouldn’t be expected to do their jobs at all. It’s astounding — Fang doesn’t even deny that the cops are refusing to do their jobs out of some combination of laziness and malice, he just thinks the strike is both justified and owns the libs! An absolutely amazing look into the authoritarian mind, and you can understand why these guys all prefer Trumpism to liberalism.
