LGM isn’t Made of Cats
I’m not very comfortable asking the internets for money. This is probably why I’ve resisted implementing a Patreon or Patreon-like service for Whiskey & IR Theory – even though it would be nice to defray hosting expenses and hire a sound producer, because you kinda need to publish episodes if you’re gonna do a podcast. It’s also why I don’t take a very small share of the minuscule advertising revenue generated by LGM. I suspect there’s a connection between all of this and the fact that I pay to keep the lights on at the Duck of Minerva, a blog that I handed over to other people years ago (stay tuned, however) – not to mention a few academic websites that I’m no longer involved with.
As you may – but more likely haven’t – noticed, I haven’t been contributing much to LGM lately. I’m mostly fine, but it’s been a difficult six months. Highlights include Ifrit receiving a bite wound from one of his “sisters” and developing a serious sub-dermal infection that took weeks, and a lot of time and money on our part, to heal. Most recently, I’ve developed carpal tunnel syndrome. It’s being treated. I’m not headed for surgery. I should make a full recovery. But it’s derailed a lot of work; this post is about as much as I can write in a single sitting.
So, in lieu of thoughtful content, I present a cat video. Please support LGM. It requires an enormous amount of labor and non-trivial hosting expenses. LGM is one of the few remaining successful, independent left-liberal-progressive blogs. Let’s keep it alive and well.
