(1) Seven Republican votes to convict was very much a glass half full result. In an age of hyper-polarization, highlighted by the Republican base becoming nothing but lunatic fringe voters, seven is a big number.

OTOH, Trump was as non-controversially guilty as it’s possible to be, and 86% of GOP senators voted to acquit. May their names live on in perpetual infamy.

(2) The House managers did a uniformly magnificent job, led by the genuinely heroic Jamie Raskin, who pushed through horrifically tragic personal circumstances to organize and deliver a stunningly comprehensive indictment of Donald Trump and all his enablers.

How about Joe Neguse to replace Stephen Breyer? (Raskin certainly deserves that promotion, but he’s 22 years older).

(3) Of course Trump immediately vomited up a statement:

This has been yet another phase of the greatest witch hunt in the history of our Country. No president has ever gone through anything like it, and it continues because our opponents cannot forget the almost 75 million people, the highest number ever for a sitting president, who voted for us just a few short months ago.

Hey at least somebody wrote “almost” 75 million. That’s shockingly close to a true statement, although still a lie.

Also no other Heisman Trophy-winning USC tailback has gone through anything like the witch hunt to which OJ Simpson was subjected, as I’m sure Alan Dershowitz can confirm if you ask him for a comment on this subject, or any other.
