Ben Wittes is back to share his wisdom about the unshakeable integrity of American political institutions

Yeah, Ben Wittes. The guy who told us not to get our pretty little heads into a tizzy about Elite Lawyer of Integritude Bill Barr, when Barr became AG. The guy who told us that Brett Kavanaugh was also just a very fine and terrific fellow when he was nominated to the SCOTUS:

There are a lot of good reasons for liberals to oppose Kavanaugh. He’s a genuine conservative who will do a lot of the things liberals are afraid of. You know, if I had been as catastrophically wrong as Wittes was about Barr and Kavanaugh, specifically because I was such a zealous institutionalist that I couldn’t even imagine that these people would wreak the havoc they’ve already wreaked in the service of Donald Trump, I’d like to think that I’d show just the tiniest bit of humility before lecturing people about our MAGICAL CONSTITUTION, that has proven so successful in repulsing the previous (checks notes) zero attempts by sitting presidents to subvert it in this particular way, before Donald Trump came along.

But I guess that’s just one reason I’m not a Very Serious Person.
