If you have time for any one long-read today, make it this story by a former U.S. diplomatic officer working in Mexico who was so routinely harassed crossing the border by Customs and Border Protection agents because she was Black that she developed depression and left the Foreign Service. Given how many fascists have infiltrated these law enforcement agencies, such routine racism is not surprising and it’s likely to take a long time to root out. Outrageous and infuriating.
