Booker Gone
And Booker is out.
Cory Booker, the New Jersey senator who pitched himself as a candidate of hope and optimism, is suspending his presidential campaign, he said Monday. Booker, who recently announced he had surpassed his fourth-quarter fundraising goal, said his operation would not have the money “to scale up and continue building a campaign that can win,” particularly with a Senate impeachment trial looming and because he would be absent from Tuesday’s debate.
Would have bet at the beginning of the process that Booker would make it to Iowa and beyond. But this is why no one trusts me with predictions anymore. Interesting bit of trivia; Presidential candidates born in New Jersey (Booker was born in DC) have won the Presidential popular vote three times since the founding of the Republic, and all three of those candidates were Grover Cleveland.
