MAGA influencer furious that the Donald Trump that existed solely in his own imagination has been betrayed by Donald Trump

Bill Ackman’s sweaty attempts to rationalize his enthusiastic support for Trump with a plan to destroy the international economy out of a combination of rank stupidity and pure spite that he retains enough of his faculties to know is insane is resulting in some truly pathetic denialism:
Ackman argued big companies as well as small and medium-sized businesses and entrepreneurs will suffer pain if the negative consequences unfold. And he predicted prices will rise, something Trump officials on Sunday were downplaying.
“Almost no business can pass through an overnight massive increase in costs to their customers. And that’s true even if they have no debt, and, unfortunately, there is a massive amount of leverage in the system,” he wrote.
Ackman also warned that Trump risks causing negative consequences for those who support him.
“This is not what we voted for. The President has an opportunity on Monday to call a time out and have the time to execute on fixing an unfair tariff system. Alternatively, we are heading for a self-induced, economic nuclear winter, and we should start hunkering down. May cooler heads prevail.”
Wait, what?
This is not what we voted for.
Come on, man!
Bill Ackman freaking out about tariffs and saying "this isn't what we voted for" is as clear a crystallization of conservative self-delusion as you could ever ask for. Yes it is you idiot, you voted specifically for this! He talked about this NON STOP— Ian Boudreau (@ianboudreau.com) April 6, 2025 at 6:30 PM
If Bill Ackman had been a hamster his mother would have eaten him— Ian Boudreau (@ianboudreau.com) April 6, 2025 at 6:31 PM
I mean, it’s not just that he campaigned on tariffs, and across-the-board tariffs rather than the modest, target ones implemented by Biden, and based on the idea that if the United States is running a trade deficit with any country irrespective of their trade barriers it’s getting screwed. He also made it very clear there would be no Steves Mnuchin or Wilburs Ross who would inject at least some semblance of economic and political rationality into the administration’s political outputs.
I can understand why you don’t like it, but you sure as hell voted for it and tried to persuade as many as people as possible to vote for it, and the results hang on you no matter how quickly you try to run away from them or wish for a Donald Trump closer to the one that you hallucinated because you wanted to own the libs without being made to look ridiculous.
