The Donald Trump that exists in my imagination who is the opposite of Donald Trump would be a much more popular president than Donald Trump

What can you even say it this point?
“What if Donald Trump was magnanimous, and committed to a popular policy agenda instead of designating a white nationalist billionaire to be Minister With Every Portfolio Including Taking Away Your Social Security…” I mean I think we have to go back to the classics again…
You see, wishes are totally free. It’s like when you can’t decide whether to daydream about being a famous Hollywood star or having amazing magical powers. Why not — be a famous Hollywood star with amazing magical powers! Along these lines, John has developed an infallible way to improve any public policy wishes. You just wish for the thing, plus, wish that everyone would have their own pony! So, in Chafetz’ case, he should not only wish that Bush would say a lot of good things about democracy-building and fighting terrorism in a speech written for him by a smart person, he should also wish that Bush should actually mean the things he says and enact policies which reflect this, and he should wish that everyone gets a pony. See?
Aside from the obvious, it’s striking how many people (including some who aren’t as clueless about Trump as Hamid has always been) acting as if Trump winning by 1.5% (while nearly losing the House and losing almost every Senate battleground) in an extremely anti-incumbent environment, the second time Republicans have won the popular vote since 1988, represents the Republican Party probably becoming some kind of permanent majority coalition. But in a sense all of these claims have to posit a Trump that has never existed.
