To what extent is MAGA a political movement based on sadism?

I don’t have time to blog on this in detail at the moment, so I’m throwing it out for discussion.

The White House video I posted below that gave Elon Musk such a tingly feeling is EXPLICITLY sadistic.

Adam Serwer’s observation that “the cruelty is the point” is obviously correct. To what extent is MAGA an expression of libidinal desire activated by engaging in or witnessing cruelty, aka sadism?

A historical through line here might be the Bush II administration’s open employment of torture, given that torture always features sadistic elements.

The right wing obsession with the concept of being a “cuck,” especially in a racialized context, leans heavily into sado-masochistic fetishization.

Relatedly, masochism plays a central role in MAGA ideology, which indulges in exquisite fantasies of continual victimization.
