Republicans: it’s fraudulent for the non-affluent to have access to healthcare

To continue on today’s theme, Medicaid cuts are very unpopular even among Trump voters. Both Trump and House Republicans are well aware of this, so they’re trying out this scam to try to convince the few non-lunatics in the Republican conference to go along:
REPORTER: The spending bill aims to cut $2t. Can you guarantee that Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security will not be touched?
TRUMP: We're not gonna touch it. Now we are gonna look for fraud, like people that shouldn't be on. pic.twitter.com/8U4L5JD9R7— Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) February 26, 2025
“We’re not going to touch Medicaid, we’re just going to take it away from people who don’t deserve it, if you know what I mean, and I think you do.”
It’s not a subtle move:
the "waste" in medicaid is that it spends money on healthcare for people who republicans don't think deserve to live https://t.co/eveTFzLICq— Fentanyl Tsar (@canderaid) February 25, 2025
