Deputy Attorney General admonished DOJ lawyer for taking notes on his criminal fuckin’ conspiracy

In his post below, Paul discusses both Danielle Sassoon’s courageous resignation over being asked to drop a prosecution for purely corrupt reasons and Acting Deputy AG’s Emil Bove’s entirely goonish “never take sides against the family in public” response. Within my lifetime, remarkably enough, this kind of thing was enough to get a president to resign; now it’s just a garden variety afternoon.

This is the most remarkable detail of the story to me:

The #2 official at the United States Department of Justice literally gave the Stringer Bell "is you taking notes on a criminal fucking conspiracy?" warning to the Manhattan prosecutors pursuing the Eric Adams case.

Huh, I wonder why Sassoon did not think there were legally defensible reasons for dropping the Adams prosecution!

There is, needless to say, a darker part of this story — namely that a Yankee Dollar Carl Schmitt like Bove is not going to pose the slightest resistance should Trump try to, say unconstitutionally stay on for another term or try to steal another election:

In Trump's first term, the Department of Justice remained institutionally governed by its professional legal ethic throughout Sessions' time in office. While Barr did damage to it, Jeffrey Rosen was still around in January 2021 at a crucial moment to stand on the rules. There'll be none of that now.— Jacob T.
