The California Fires
Santa Monica appears to be in particular danger from the Palisades Fire. Evacuations have been ordered in heavily populated areas.
ok, to underline how this is not stopping, there’s now been an evacuation order for north of montana (!!!) below 11th Street, and there’s reporting that the fire is in Santa Monica Canyon. For non-Angelenos, don’t know how to describe the catastrophe this portends.

Here’s a map that gives you some idea of the evacuation area.
Here’s a gift link to the New York Times update feed. They’ve got a good graphic of all the fires and how the winds are blowing. Resources are stretched, and aerial firefighting is difficult because of the winds that are driving the fires.
Let’s make this a thread for people to check in and share what information they’ve got – no politics! Having had to evacuate for the Cerro Grande Fire in Los Alamos in 2000, my heart goes out to everyone affected.
