Fascism revels in paradox, and here’s a good one: MAGA is so “anti-elitist” that it rejects standard credentials for all important jobs, and embraces highly unusual ones instead, like being a rapist and/or a drug addict and/or a grifter (its god-emperor is of course all three). Yet at the same time it cannot stop talking about how non-whites are not “qualified” for any job that requires any sort of education or intelligence.

Thus does Donald Trump become the ultimate symbol of the MAGA meritocracy.
