By I first encountered Curtis Yarvin in the early 2000s, when someone on the chat board I was on then linked to him. Not only was he entirely wrong about his history, but he seemed malicious. Of course, he was going by “Mencius Moldbug” at that time. It decreased my regard for the person who linked to him.
And now our boy has made the big time: An interview in the New York Times! (gift link) I have only skimmed through it and see that there is no reason to change my sense of him. I will leave it to our commentariat to recount their impressions and possibly encounters with this sage who is now advising people like Mark Andreesen, also recentlly interviewed in that publication.
This keeps getting more and more surreal. But I may even try to write a serious post this Martin Luther King weekend.
Oh, and look at the portrait at the top of the interview. Look very carefully.
