Vote shift in 2024 election

I haven’t done a comprehensive search, but this map suggests that I’m at this moment located in the third-most Democratic-shifting county in the 2024 presidential election, relative to 2020, out of more than 3,000 in the USA. That would be Chaffee County in the central Colorado mountains, which shifted 6.7% toward the Democrats. (The only counties my quick survey found that moved further blue were Henry County in Georgia, which shifted by 9.2%, and San Juan county in Colorado, which shifted by 7.1%).

Go check out what happened in your county. With vote totals now nearly final, Trump improved his vote percentage from 46.8% to 49.8%, while Harris’s percentage total declined by the same proportion relative to Biden’s, from 51.3% to 48.3%. Per the Florida Election Lab, the total turnout among the voter eligible population (this is about 5% smaller than the voting age population) is going to be about 2.5% lower, which is going to add up to around six million fewer votes, relative to the change in the VEP.

Meanwhile the House of Representatives election is nearly done, with Republicans leading 220 to 2014, but with the Democrat holding a nearly 200-vote lead in California’s District 13, so it looks like it’s going to be only a five-vote GOP margin, which should at least in theory cause some problems for the new Trump administration’s continuing attempts to destroy this country.
