Great to see Willie at the Harris/Allred rally in Houston tonight:

I have seen some people expressing concern about Harris campaigning in a red state so close to Election Day, and I’m not entirely sure they’re wrong. But I see the logic:
- Making abortion as salient as possible is perhaps Harris’s most urgent task as a candidate, and doing a rally in a state with a particularly draconian Trump ban is a potentially effective means of doing so. (The Blue sign behind the stage says “Vote for Reproductive Freedom.”)
- If the rally generates good clips social media will allow them to resonate beyond Houston.
- There has to be a diminishing returns effect in the battleground states at some point. This isn’t 2016 — the likely tipping point states are very well known and Harris has spent plenty of time and resources in all of them.
- To reiterate, to keep control of the Senate Dems are going to need at least one big longshot to win, and Allred is another one of the candidates polling better than Tester.
So I’m OK with it. And, I mean, Willie and fuckin’ Beyonce — sure, why not.
