An evening with the candidate of civil discourse, cognitive fitness, and gender equality
I am beginning to think that Republicans were not acting in good faith when they acted outraged about Biden’s comments yesterday:
I’ve seen 50-leven stories about what Biden said about Trump supporters. I bet I’ll see zero-leven about this. https://t.co/hcRTOBxbFw— Jemele Hill (@jemelehill) October 30, 2024
When you freak out over Biden not-actually saying something about Trump supporters that Trump says multiple times in every speech about Harris supporters, you are making a choice. When you pretend to believe Republican hacks when they pretend to be offended that Joe Biden is Not Adhering to the Sacred Norms of Civic Discourse, you are making a choice. A very bad choice that is misleading and insulting the intelligence of your readers to help fascists. Be a journalist, not a Cilizza.
Meanwhile, it is impossible to determine which of these attempts to address Trump’s gender gap problem is more revealing or disturbing. Door #1:
Trump says that RFK Jr is gonna "make sure our food is safe, our people are safe, our women are safe."
Why would RFK Jr have anything to do with women? pic.twitter.com/kJ15Wv8I7T— Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) October 30, 2024
Mary Richardson Kennedy could not be reached for comment.
Then there’s this:
Trump: "Is there any woman in this stadium that wants to be protected by the president?" pic.twitter.com/G3VOhIw0lO— Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) October 31, 2024
Don’t worry ladies — Donald Trump will protect you from being treated for sepsis or being able to miscarry without the county sheriff sending the SWAT team whether you like it or not!
The one thing you can never say is that Donald Trump didn’t make clear what he is or what he’ll do.
