Trump is already claiming the vote in Pennsylvania is shot through with fraud. It could not be more obvious that he won’t accept a loss next Tuesday, no matter what the final margin looks like, although of course his claims will be much harder to deal with if the election is as close as all the polls suggest it is.
Trump completely controls the Republican party now, which means that one of the two major parties won’t accept defeat in the presidential election. This in turn means that in the wake of a defeat on November 5, another battle is going to have to be fought between then and when the outcome is certified by Congress on January 6.
I’ve seen a number of people post that at least everything will be over next Tuesday, and we’ll “know.” It won’t be and we won’t know, not for another two months at least.
This is a fight that doesn’t end Tuesday night, so we need to be prepared to keep fighting it.
