Let’s move away from the feature films for a night to explore the 1917 short film How the Cowboy Makes His Lariat, which is actually kind of an interesting 3 minutes that demonstrates the very real skills cowboys had back then. The only surviving print is missing a bit and the beginning and the end, but it basically makes sense. And let’s not forget some good ol’cowboy poetry to go with it.
