Duo and Sunday Open Thread

How are folks doing on their Duolingo? It seems as if everyone I know is trying to learn some language or another on Duo. I started with Korean two years ago (in preparation from my trip to Seoul), then started again with Ukrainian last year (in prep for my trip to Kyiv), then started again again with Latin… 271 days ago, it seems. The Korean and the Ukrainian are both theoretically more useful than the Latin, but they’re also difficult, mostly because of the alphabet, and my commitment to a leisure activity is mediated by difficulty. I’ve had no trouble sticking with Latin, however. It seems that the instructional materials are drawn from what’s more generally available online, so for Latin I get lots of stuff like “the angry soldiers kill the lazy cook,” which of course I’m just fine with.
