Trump praised Walz extravagantly for how he handled the George Floyd protests

I realized after posting about JD Vance demanding to debate Harris next week that this demand is simply a product of the fact that, within 24 hours, Trump’s fantasies about how he’s going to get to run against Biden after all because any other outcome would be so unfair, have become Republican dogma, in classic cult psychology fashion.
The polls have shifted a lot toward Harris in the past 17 days, and they will probably shift a lot more in her direction over the next couple of weeks, in the run-up to and during the Democratic convention.
Again, I think it’s a very open question whether Trump will be able to handle this situation without completely decompensating in September/October. The fact that he’s already engaging in weird fantasies about how Joe Biden is going to stage a coup at the convention is some evidence that the answer will prove to be “no.”
