The most important nomination
To add to the discussion about Biden’s nominees, we should add that he got what turned out to be the most critical one right:
When I called @Tim_Walz this morning to ask him to join our campaign, I shared my deep level of respect for him and the work we've done together.
We're going to unify this country and we're going to win.
Let's go get this done. pic.twitter.com/EcqZ497lyk— Kamala Harris (@KamalaHarris) August 6, 2024
Since Biden’s terrifyingly bad performance at the debate, Harris has been under a microscope. She generally was not well thought of by the political press, and indeed some people who realized before I did that Biden was in very serious trouble nearly torpedoed the correct part of their arguments by refusing to accept that if Biden stepped down Harris was obviously going to be the only acceptable nominee. She’s been nearly flawless. And choosing a risk-averse, broadly liked vice presidential nominee is just another example of that.
