Some of the neighbors say he smokes crack but I don’t believe it
Something that triggers my twisted sense of curiosity these days is what the American right wing currently intends to convey when it talks about “communism.”
For example:
“Communism” is a concept that had a fairly clear meaning 50 years ago, but with Marxist-Leninism now being deader than disco, and China having more or less gone fully capitalist, that former concept really doesn’t exist any more except as a historical relic. These days there are about as many communists as there are Millerites, and for the same reason: it was a god that failed pretty spectacularly. Yes I know about the Seventh Day Adventists. Does anybody else confuse them all the time with the Jehovah’s Witnesses? There’s a Jehovah’s Witness church nearby that has the signage in front in Spanish, which I find sociologically interesting, and includes the phrase “Palabra de Miel,” which means “The Word of Honey,” which is a beautiful phrase in Spanish that I assume is a literal translation of some concept from the Witness theology.
Where was I again? Oh yes, communism:
Musk is some sort of drug addict, correct? He sounds like somebody who hasn’t slept since 2019.
Anyway, what do these people mean by “communism?” Is this just a cold war kids greatest hits kind of thing? Is it just another way of saying “taxes on rich people are bad?”
It all feels very retro in a boring and unimaginative way, which pretty much sums up where Trumpism is right now.
