Apologies and explanations

I don’t know anything about the world Ronda Rousey comes out of, but I’m sure some of you do, and I gather she is (or was?) a big star in it:
Ronda Jean Rousey (/ˈraʊzi/;[12] born February 1, 1987) is an American professional wrestler, actress, and former judoka and mixed martial artist.[13] She is best known for her tenure in Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and WWE.
She was the first American woman to win an Olympic medal in judo by winning bronze at the 2008 Summer Olympics. Rousey began her mixed martial arts (MMA) career with King of the Cage in 2011. She soon joined Strikeforce, becoming their last Women’s Bantamweight Champion until its acquisition by UFC.[14] Rousey was part of the company’s first female fight at UFC 157, was their inaugural Women’s Bantamweight Champion, and held the record for most UFC title defenses (6) by a female, until being surpassed by Valentina Shevchenko in 2022.[15][16][17][18] Rousey retired from MMA in 2016 and was the first female fighter inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2018.
Eleven years ago, Rousey had the horrendous judgment to post a Sandy Hook truther video on her Twitter account. After getting a lot of blowback she deleted the video and posted another tweet, in which she asserted that “asking questions and doing research is more patriotic than blindly accepting what you’re told.” This eventually generated more apologies from her management, who couldn’t have been happy with their star client’s “research” and “independent thinking.”
Anyway I get the sense that things aren’t going that great for her these days, and that she may be blowing through the millions she made pretty quickly, as so many athletes and once upon a time show business stars are prone to do. I mean that’s the cynical explanation for this tweet, although a much more charitable interpretation is possible:
The more charitable interpretation is that she feels lots of genuine remorse for her idiocy 11 years ago, and is sincerely trying to make amends now. Rousey dropped out of high school and seems to have had a pretty rough childhood in various ways, so I should probably try to be nicer here, but it’s hard, given that Sandy Hook truthers are the absolute worst scum at the bottom of the conspiracist barrel.
In any event, Rousey did an AMA (Ask Me Anything) on Reddit, and got annihilated in the comments, to which she apparently didn’t respond before the thread was locked.
I wonder what Bari Weiss thinks about this particular outbreak of Cancel Culture?
