A matter of degrees

I saw an amazing stat this morning, which is that Tim Walz is the first person on a Democratic party ticket since Jimmy Carter who didn’t attend law school. This breaks a string of 16 lawyers (or in one case, lawyerish; Al Gore dropped out of law school a year short of graduation to run for his father’s old congressional seat) in a row, which even on this blog seems pretty excessive.

I’m also pleased to see that Walz went to directional state schools for his BA and masters, rather than racking up the now standard two-plus degrees from HYPS. The contrast here with prestige-obsessed compulsive striver JD Vance is particularly piquant, given that Vance’s whole schtick consists of pretending to be the kind of person Walz actually is,

Meanwhile the rocket surgeons on Team Trump are tanned, rested, and ready:

Also I just learned that Walz has a daughter conceived via IVF, which almost sounds made up it’s so perfect.
