The 2024 Worldcon, which will be held next week at the SEC convention center in Glasgow, Scotland, has published its programme (yes, that’s how it’s spelled). One item that may be of interest to LGM readers—in case you happen to be in Glasgow next week—is the launch event for my book of collected reviews, Track Changes. On Friday, August 9th at 11:30 BST, in hall Argyll 3, I will sit with Niall Harrison, publisher of Briardene Books, for a conversation about reviewing, its importance and challenges. There will also be nibbles, and a chance to purchase the book and get it signed if you like. (Admission is restricted to Worldcon members; day tickets are available at the registration desk.)

If you’re not planning a quick jaunt to Glasgow, the convention also has an online membership option, which confers access to the convention discord server and the ability to watch some of the programme events on a live stream (if you’re searching the programme guide, look for events marked as “Online”). Some (though not all) of the livestreamed events will also be recorded (again, these will be marked as “Recorded in the programme guide), and members will be able to rewatch them for several months after the convention concludes. Unfortunately, most of my programme items will not be not taking place in halls with streaming setups, but two are. On Thursday, August 8th, 17:30 BST at the Lomond Auditorium, I will be moderating a panel on Systems as Villains in SFF, with participants Aliette de Bodard, Charles Stross, John Scalzi, and SJ Groenewegen. On Sunday, August 11th, 14:30 BST, I will be on a panel discussing the thirty(-first) anniversary of Myst, the computer game that defined a genre, alongside Benjamin Liar, Casey Lucas, and Sam Wilson, and moderated by Sarah Gulde. Both panels will be recorded and available for later viewing for Worldcon members.

Track Changes is also available to order, in paperback or ebook, at the Briardene Books shop or on Amazon (ebook only).
