We seem to have reached a tipping point this week. Democrats are laughing and making fun of Republicans. Republicans have found no way to clap back.

Much of what is being said is not new; some of us have been saying these things for some time. Republican beliefs and behavior are weird. But somehow that never took off until this week.

Obviously, it has to do with Kamala Harris replacing Joe Biden as the Democrats’ presidential candidate. She is a new factor in the race, completely different from the old white men we were looking at only a week ago. But it also has to do with Republicans’ weird views on sex. End recreational sex when JD Vance is fucking sofas? It turns out that was the bridge too far.

People have been predicting (hoping for?) a break for some time, but it’s never happened. It looks like it is happening now. Why precisely now will be the subject of thousands of sociology and media dissertations.
