Harris endorsed by Pelosi and all of her important potential rivals
I don’t think that a BLITZ PRIMARY is going to happen:
Vice President Kamala Harris moved swiftly Monday to lock up Democratic delegates behind her campaign for the White House after President Joe Biden stepped aside amid concerns from within their party that he would be unable to defeat Republican Donald Trump.
Biden’s exit Sunday, prompted by Democratic worries over his fitness for office, was a seismic shift to the presidential contest that upended both major political parties’ carefully honed plans for the 2024 race.
Aiming to put weeks of intraparty drama over Biden’s candidacy behind them, prominent Democratic elected officials, party leaders and political organizations quickly lined up behind Harris in the hours after Biden announced he was dropping his reelection campaign.
Biden’s departure frees his delegates to vote for whomever they choose. Harris, whom Biden backed after ending his candidacy, is thus far the only declared candidate and was working to quickly secure endorsements from a majority of delegates.
Additional endorsements Monday, including Maryland Gov. Wes Moore, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker and Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear, left a dwindling list of potential rivals to Harris.
Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, who had been one of the notable holdouts to Harris, initially encouraging a primary to strengthen the eventual nominee, endorsed Harris Monday. Pelosi said she was lending her “enthusiastic support” to Harris’ effort to lead the party.
It was always overwhelmingly likely to end up with Harris being the nominee should Biden step down, but her performance since this became a possibility allowed the process to go incredibly smoothly. And credit to Whitmer, Shapiro, Beshear et. al. for following Biden’s lead an putting the party and country over their short-term political ambitions. The less said about the baroque conspiracy theory apparently floating around that the prominent Democrats who concluded that Biden should pass the torch did not have good faith concerns about a candidate trailing Democratic Senate candidates by double digits in every battleground state after his primary tactic to turn things around had backfired, but were actually motivated by a secret plan to deny Harris the presidency the better.
Meanwhile, while there will be a lot of hard work required and obstacles to overcome ahead, for now enjoy not only the enthusiasm and open wallets among Democrats but the palpable panic of the MAGA braintrust such as it is:

No. Not on any level.
