Biden Update

In the past few days, Joe Biden has done three demanding events.

1. Addressed the NATO Summit

2. Held a press conference

3. Held a campaign rally in Detroit

He looks pretty good in all of them. YES, OMG, HE SUBSTITUTED NAMES TWICE! If you are upset by that, I will ask you why I frequently call my cats by each others’ names. Or why your parents called you by your brother’s name. People do this all the time.

The polls are pretty much static. I can’t find a good link, but many  people (!) are saying this. Josh Marshall is keeping track more closely than I am, and here’s the latest post on his blog. I don’t agree with everything he says, but he’s trying to be fair and to look at all the evidence. It’s a neck and neck race right now, but Project 2025 is receiving attention that is not good for the Republican Party. It was featured as a danger in People magazine! Regular appearances like Biden’s campaign rally will move the polls. We have three and a half months.

Blacks are sticking with Biden. So are women and LGBTQ+, at least in my observations. And Bernie! Bernie backs Joe! (gift link) It is largely white men (Hi, George Clooney!) who are arguing Biden should step down. I think there are a lot of reasons for this, but I won’t post them now.

Update: Rarely does Axios speak for me, and this isn’t exactly that. But it contains a number of points I would have used if I wrote a piece about how gender plays a part in all this. Clearly Jim Vanderhei and Mike Allen and Axios and how many other media outlets emotionally come down on one side of this. Look at the graphic!
