It’s convenient that Trump has put J.D. Vance on the ticket to vividly remind people that the brutalization of women isn’t an incidental byproduct but a central goal of laws banning abortion. It’s also not a coincidence that the states that make it the hardest to get abortions do the least to help pregnant women, parents and children — it’s all a seamless web.
