Tom Friedman’s erstwhile funniest critic is now expressing ideas that are substantively much worse than Friedman’s in even-worse-than-Friedman prose:

Forget the “mask is off.” Name me a Hobbesian jungle with a strong state constrained by due process. Name me one.

Obviously, even in isolation this is the worst kind of fash-apologist horseshit, but it’s even worse when you remember that while he is strongly opposed to prosecuting Republicans for actual crimes he’s a huge fan of hyper-partisan Trump goons prosecuting Democrats for those that are both trivial and imaginary.

Somebody could try to tell him that you can emulate Glenn Greenwald ideologically without emulating his prose style, but it’s presumably way too late.
