NBA Finals Game 3 Thread
I said before the Game 1 thread that I thought a healthy Porzingis would make the difference for the Celtics, if he was indeed healthy. Well, it did….for 2 games. Porzingis is now out with yet another leg injury. I feel so bad for the guy. He’s so good and so fun to watch and he blossomed so well this year and….he just can’t stay healthy. And for this to be some weird injury that no one has hardly ever seen before, yikes. Without him, I’d say these teams are reasonably evenly matched. Both Kyrie Irving and Jayson Tatum have had terrible finals so far, while Luka and Jaylen Brown have been excellent. So if these two teams are now even more or less and Porzingis helped Boston get a 2-0 lead at home….I have to believe in Boston.
Really, the Mavericks have played terribly. This does not even look like the team that took out Minnesota so convincingly. Of course, they will Game 3 and Game 4 at home and it may not matter anymore, but they need to step up their game significantly to defeat even a Porzingis-less Celtics team. Let’s see if they can do it. Kyrie’s inconsistency has been one of the hallmarks of his career, the other of course being a terrible person and locker room cancer. He’s the key for Dallas. The rest of their supporting cast isn’t as good as Boston’s. So I guess this series now depends on whether Al Horford can handle 40 minutes a game and whether Kyrie can play like we know he can.
