For excellence in the field of grifting, the nominees are:

Clarence Thomas, the Supreme Court of the United States (1991- ).

Ladies and gentlemen, this year the Academy is making the award by spontaneous acclamation:

I remember when Abe Fortas got forced off the Court for behavior about 2.3% as egregious as Thomas’s, thereby ending the 17 seconds in US history when the Supreme Court had an arguably liberal-left working majority, apparently forever. Well I don’t remember that but that’s what the history books say (a species of literature that we can only hope will continue exist, given current trends).
