Biden’s Border Actions

The thing about Biden limiting asylum claims is that I don’t see what the point of holding power is if you are going to use it for evil. Democrats are supposed to be the not evil party. This whole hyped up border nonsense is so beyond ridiculous. I get that this is what Americans want, including many Democrats. This is because the core American ideology is racism. So from a political perspective, I find it just depressing. I am not surprised that Biden did this, based on that reason. And for many of you, that’s enough given what Trump would do. Fair enough. It doesn’t mean I am any less disgusted and horrified at both Biden and the many Americans who think immigration is crisis.

Who is even hurt by these recent waves of immigrants anyway? We know that immigrants commit crimes at lower rates than native-born Americans, largely due to caution over being deported, which makes sense. The job market is plenty robust and claims that immigration undermines American wages haven’t made much empirical sense since the 1910s anyway. This whole thing is just a media generated outrage over the brown people coming. And even plenty of immigrants themselves want to blow up the bridge that got them here. After all, we have long known how immigrant groups have claimed whiteness through attacking the Other in the United States and here we see it again.

A sad, sad time for those of us who want America to become better than what it has been.
