BTW the Eclipse Award is given every year to America’s most distinguished racehorse, not that this has anything to do with MTG, whose best performance ever was placing in a $88 claiming race at Aqueduct, in a 14-horse field on April 20th.
But seriously, I’ve been meaning to mention that if you have any chance to get into the totality track of Monday’s eclipse, I very strongly recommend doing so (the difference between totality and even 99% of totality is enormous). I drove three and half hours in 2017 to central Wyoming to see that total eclipse, and it took us 10 hours to get back, but it was more than worth it. It’s an amazing sight, leaving aside the eschatological semiotics, which I’m pretty sure was David Byrne’s and Brian Eno’s second-best collaboration.
