The Ladies Would Like For You To Be More Civil
We are once again being appealed to by two members of an august judicial body to behave more as they are supposed to behave on the bench. Just pretend everything is fine. Think of England, or whatever calms you.
Two Supreme Court justices on Tuesday urged Americans to turn down the temperature of civic discourse – even as the high court is working through some of the most charged political cases to land on its docket in years.
“Why should any of us want to obliterate the opposition or even see another person as the opposition?” Justice Amy Coney Barrett told an audience in Washington, DC, during an event focused on civic education.
Justice Sonia Sotomayor said that on the Supreme Court she and her colleagues come to disagreements with an assumption that all nine are operating in good faith.
Don’t think about how Justice Comey Barrett happily climbed aboard Mitch McConnell’s Constitutional destroyer to achieve her high post or Clarence Thomas’s free trips and recreational bus. Don’t think about the rights they have taken away and would further take away.
I can see why Comey Barrett does this; but I hope Sotomayor has extracted something of value for her words. Although if it hasn’t happened yet, I am sure that the majority will be glad to forget whatever they promised.
