The pseudo-legal basis Republicans are citing to justify nullifying federal law in an area of plenary federal jurisdiction is the ridiculous claim that some migrants trying to enter the country constitutes an “invasion” under Article IV. The bad faith of this argument is self-evident, but in case there’s any doubt lef by Trump Republicans are torpedoing a border security deal because they don’t actually want to address it, they just want pictures on Fox News they can use against Biden:
