Live by the election denying shitheads, die by the election denying shitheads
Please note the published date on this Washington Post article about tRump flunky and chair of the AZ GOP. Former chair. He’s still a tRump flunky. Or would like to be. Anyway, let the sound of harps and a cheesy special effect take you a year minus four days back in time.
The Arizona Republian Party, reeling from statewide drubbing in a historic stronghold, chose a new leader Saturday who managed to hold together a coalition of activists from warring factions.
Some say Irony is dead. I say she is alive and well and has a keen sense of timing. In this case, right before Jeff DeWit’s the one-year anniversary as chair of the state GOP, but too late to get the deposit back on the big cake.
His candidacy for chair got a last-minute push from Trump, whose intervention may have widened his margin over far-right activists.

DeWit, 50, who entered the race in December, pledged to improve fundraising, recruit precinct committee people, stay neutral in primary races and run a transparent operation. He noted his willingness as treasurer to take on establishment party figures, like former governor Doug Ducey (R). In one-on-one calls to more conventional Republicans, DeWit cast himself as the only candidate who could move the party past the intensity of election denialism.
But when he took the stage Saturday, DeWit tailored his message for a pro-Trump “Make America Great Again” audience. He touted endorsements from some of the state’s loudest evangelists of Trump’s election falsehoods: Kari Lake, the former TV news anchor who lost her gubernatorial bid, failed secretary of state candidate Mark Finchem (R), state Sen. Wendy Rogers, (R) former national security adviser Michael Flynn and above all, Trump. Additional hard-line validators included former Maricopa County sheriff Joe Arpaio and former acting attorney general Matthew G. Whitaker.
At least he’ll have plenty of company at the Arizona GOP Formers and Failures Club. But it might be kind of awkward when Lake is sitting at the end of the bar changing the batteries on her recorder.
“We will take our elections back, we will bring election integrity back to Arizona with me as the chairman,” DeWit said. At the same time, he positioned himself as the unity candidate, urging the assembled party officials to remember that “the real enemy are the Democrats.”
The Democrats. And Kari Lake. And recording devices of all sorts.
And in leaked audio circulated on social media in recent weeks, DeWit can be heard saying people urged him to run to stop Daniels and distancing himself from Trump.
“I’m off the Trump train, I’m DeSantis,” DeWit says in the undated tape, citing Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R). “I worked for Trump and everything. I’m not good with those people because I didn’t support their idiot Blake Masters,” he added, referring to the U.S. Senate candidate who had Trump’s endorsement but lost in November.
DeWit said in an interview with The Post on Saturday that the audio is “a fake tape chopped up” from a private conversation he had last year with a Daniels backer.
Perhaps talking to people is just something he shouldn’t do.
But enough of the past. For the connoisseurs of whine and Republican tears out there, here is a link to Former Chairman Jeff DeWit’s statement, courtesy of commentarian hylen. The entire thing is delightful but I present two paragraphs for those of you with slow connections
Lake has a massive megaphone that I cannot compete with. I am just a business and financial guy that got recruited into this unpaid role that demands the amount of time of roughly two full time jobs – nights, weekends, holidays, and more are all workdays. My motivation for accepting this position was that I wanted to contribute positively, with the primary focus being the betterment of Arizona and our nation through the election of competent individuals. While there is much more that I could express, I must refrain from defending myself, as it could potentially undermine this objective.
We’ll see how long the martyrdom of Jeff DeWit lasts. But apparently one good thing that came out of his almost a full year as party chair is that this whimpering booger of a man was too busy with his volunteer gig to get underfoot at the company that he owned and that employed Lake. (Possibly a company called SuperFeed.)
And here’s a reminder that DeWit is a democracy-hating fuck who deserves every bad thing that’s happening to him.
I am a proud supporter of President Trump, having worked diligently as the COO & CFO of his 2016 campaign, served in his Administration for two years, and returned as the COO of the 2020 campaign. Like many Republicans, I am eager to see him return to the White House, bringing back low inflation, a secure border, and economic growth. President Trump is not only a successful businessman but also a passionate Patriot. We have both faced the challenge of dealing with unauthorized recordings, a situation no one should endure. While I have occasionally critiqued some of his endorsements, my admiration for his character has never faltered. My dedication remains with Arizona Republicans, our commendable elected officials, and candidates who are champions of freedom, as well as my friends in the Trump campaign, united in our goal to reclaim the White House.
DeWit goes to Dump with tears in his eyes and says “Sir, may I please have my job with your campaign back?”
Meanwhile, other Republican events are eventuating in Arizona. Or rather, they aren’t.
The most common explanation is that gropenfuhrer scheduled an appearance at the AZGFF without checking his calendar and forgot he had a court appearance. Which he wound out lumbering out of early.
I hope Republicans who bought tickets to the event don’t hold their breath until they get their refunds. Perhaps Obama can issue a warning.
