A comment from LGM commenter NCruikshank:

Just throwing this out there, but hope one of front pagers does a stand alone piece on newest blockbuster from WAPO on the carnage caused by the AR 15 including never before published photos from Uvalde and other shootings. Absolutely horrifying and needs to be seen by every American. This insanity needs to stop. And if Congress won’t do it my vote is to start visiting this level of violence on the NRA and the executives who profit off these weapons.
I can’t even get my brain wrapped around the photos of Uvalde. Bawling and on the verge of throwing up. And I’ve had to read and see military injuries to human body during my time rating claims for VA.
But these weren’t soldiers but little kids. I just can’t imagine a parent or lived one of teacher having to see that, or first responders, or any human being.
And anyone in these threads excusing or justifying Israel’s killing of thousands of children should be ashamed. Make yourself look at the photos and imagine it’s your child, or anyone’s child, and if you can’t imagine a better way then you’re a broken morally bankrupt human.

I’m not going to look at that WAPO story, which I realize may not be a defensible decision. I can rationalize it by saying I’m already in favor of banning private gun ownership etc., but of course if I looked at it maybe I would actually do something more than blog about the topic and vote for non-fascists.

I did watch this amazing piece of hybrid text/video journalism from the New York Times this morning, about boys in their teens and 20s dying with CTE after playing football, usually at no level higher than high school. It’s not a pleasant experience, but I do think that anybody who takes part in the football culture in this country ought to take the time to watch it.

As to the implications of the story I’ll leave that for another post, but if you’re involved with football at any level, from simple fandom to taking part in the sport directly in some way, it’s something you should see and think about.
