NFL Open Thread: Fail Mary II Edition
While Tim Boyle was predictably bad, this play is not really his fault. However, on the question of “how much more Jets could this be,” the answer is plainly “None. None more Jets”:
Here's Jets QB Tim Boyle throwing a hail mary pick-six.
"Can you believe this?! That is insanity! That's as crazy as anything you'll ever see!"- Al Michaels

Meanwhile, in peonage ball, this is a clutch throw and catch but also a mesmerizing coaching fail on the part of Auburn:
Three pass rushers (one a spy hanging back) and Alabama's top wideout is *still* in loose single coverage in the endzone on 4th and 31. Amazing work by Hugh Freeze here https://t.co/prqXtwo7U4— Scott Lemieux (@LemieuxLGM) November 26, 2023
Greggggggggggg Williams got fired for allowing a completion like that, but at least he actually sent a pass rush. That is one of the most baffling coverage concepts I’ve ever seen — and they called a timeout before the play too. Incredible stuff. Auburn really getting a bang for their $6.5 million a year!
